Alpha-Klima at OSFF 2025: open source climate risk analysis

Alpha-Klima joined the Open Source in Finance Forum (OSFF) 2025 in London, hosted by FINOS and the Linux Foundation. The forum brought together financial institutions, technology providers, regulators and open-source practitioners to examine practical uses of open collaboration across finance.

The session

Elena de Toledo Hernández of Alpha-Klima joined Matt Sandoe of OS-Climate to present “Open Source for Climate Risk: Leveraging OS-Climate’s Physrisk Library.”

The workshop showed how Physrisk combines geospatial climate data with vulnerability models and risk-scoring methods. Together, these elements support physical climate-risk assessment across sectors, scenarios and time horizons.

Why open methods matter

Climate-risk results are easier to review and reuse when the data, models and assumptions behind them remain visible. Open-source tools can make that evidence trail more accessible while allowing institutions to adapt the analysis to their own assets and portfolios.

The session connected that principle to a practical goal: translating climate data into analysis that can support financial decisions without hiding the methodology.
